A Scottish mum has revealed a quick and easy recipe for three-ingredient air fryer doughnuts that can be whipped up in minutes, making them the perfect treat for the whole family. The doughnut doughballs are crafted ingredients most people will already have in their kitchen, reports the Daily Record.
Ailsa, hailing from Inverness, shares her culinary creations on TikTok under the handle @familymealswithailsa, first unveiled the recipe back in 2023. The video showcasing these simple treats quickly went viral, racking up an impressive 2.4 million views on the social media platform. This week, she decided to recreate the popular recipe for her substantial following of 94,700 fans.
She said: “Let’s recreate my most viral video doing the three ingredient viral doughnuts.”
The recipe calls for just 150g of flour, 200g of Greek yoghurt and a dash of vanilla essence. That’s all it takes to create these delightful doughy treats.
Ailsa added: “The last time I did this video it hit 2.4 million.”
In the video, she combines the three ingredients in a large bowl and mixes them together, with a little assistance from her daughter. As the mixture starts to form a dough-like consistency, she advises viewers to use their hands to ‘bring it all together’.
After dusting her work surface with flour, Ailsa proceeds to knead the dough. She instructed: “Then we are going to put it into little balls.”
She shaped the dough into small dough ball forms, explaining: “They’re now going to go into the air fryer at 180C for six to eight minutes.”
While the doughnuts are being cooked, she explained: “While they’re in the air fryer, in a bowl I’m going to mix together some sugar and cinnamon. And in the other bowl we are going to melt off some butter.”
After taking the dough balls out of the air fryer, she dips them into the butter before rolling them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
The final step is to melt some chocolate in a mug for dipping. Ailsa declared: “And there we have it, our three ingredient air fryer doughnuts.”
However, she did admit that they actually contain more than three ingredients, saying: “Although they’re not really three ingredient anymore because there’s the butter, the sugar and the cinnamon so I would really say that that was six.”
Following a positive taste test from her daughter and husband, she added: “Well, the whole gang approves so give it a try.”
Her followers agreed. One commented: “Those look delicious,” to which Ailsa responded: “So good!!”
Another praised: “Well done guys, they look amazing.”
One follower enquired about using zero per cent fat Greek yoghurt, to which Ailsa replied: “That’s what I used,” and another asked about the type of flour to use. Ailsa advised: “Just any self raising flour.”
She also told another fan to use the air fryer setting on the gadget instead of the bake setting.
