Donald Trump’s granddaughter seemingly gave an update on her famous relative’s health during a candid golfing trip with him. In a light-hearted change to the usual ebbs and flows of American politics, the US President appeared in a golfing video over the weekend alongside his granddaughter, Kai Trump, from a course in Virginia.
Kai, the eldest child of Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and his former wife, Vanessa (who is reportedly now dating Tiger Woods), shared the video of her and “Grandpa” Trump enjoying a round of the sport on her YouTube channel. In the hour-long video, the 18-year-old, who is currently in her last year at a private school in Miami, Florida, revealed how they’d been playing golf together for “years” and that it had become a way for them to “spend time together”. Following the introduction, Kai and Trump, donning his red Make America Great Again baseball cap and driving a golf cart, proceeded to play. However, once they reached the 10th hole, the former reality star disclosed an insight about his health.
As they finished up the 10th, Trump suggested they play a full-round, as they were “moving fast”, to which Kai agreed. He then politely asked if his entourage minded if they continued, and the camera soon switched to the pair pressing on in the cart.
As they drove, Trump said: “Okay. Well, that way, we have a score. Because if you play nine, they think something’s wrong with you. If you only play nine, they’ll say, ‘Oh, is there something wrong with him?'”
Kai replied with a four-word comment about his health, saying: “Nothing’s wrong with us.” Trump followed up by claiming: “Nothing’s…nobody can play golf like that and have something wrong.”
She highlighted they were “one under” in “under an hour”, as Trump boasted that it was “called talent”. Immediately after this, as he passed a group of golfers while he pushed on to the 11th hole, he shouted that their “taxes are coming down”.
In recent weeks, reports have emerged focusing on the US President’s health. It follows a series of public appearances and absences that have sparked rumours about Trump’s potential decline.
In a possible contradiction to an update provided by his doctor, in which they claimed that his cardiac age is roughly 14 years younger than his 79 years, Trump has been spotted with both swollen ankles and bruises on his hands.
Trump reportedly underwent an annual health checkup at the Walter Reed Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland. His doctor, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, stated that Trump was in “exceptional health”.
He wrote: “President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance.”
Yet, rumours about his health persist, in part fuelled by photos that appear to show the bruises on Trump’s hands concealed beneath makeup. Meanwhile, the White House claimed the bruises were due to “frequent handshaking” and the use of aspirin.
Another such incident occurred at a public appearance to honour the victims of 9/11. Trump was pictured with a drooping mouth on one side of his face, although it was noted that he appeared to be fine when the pictures were taken.
Other incidents that may have contributed to rumours about his health include his appearing to grip a podium and brace himself, swollen ankles, public absences, and what the Mirror described as “Trump’s ramblings”.
