Donald Trump wasted no time criticizing his former employee turned The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, slammingthe pregnant ABC panelist after she seemingly failed to follow through on a promise to wear a MAGA hat on air.
Griffin previously held three different positions in the Trump White House during his first term, most notably serving as a special assistant and eventually the Director of Strategic Communications, before resigning from her post in 2020. She then joined The View as a conservative voice for the panel in 2022.
Now, as the show, which is known to be a thorn in the President’s side, has warned they “won’t be silenced” with their criticisms of him, the President is taking aim at Griffin, who, despite her conservative leanings, has been openly critical of him and voted for his opponent, Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
As he spoke about the peace deal brokered for between Israel and Hamas–which saw all remaining hostages freed by the terrorist organisation, the President couldn’t resist jibing at his former employee.
“She got hired by The View, and they gave her a couple of bucks, and she changed her view very quickly,” he said. “I never thought she’d make it. I never thought she had what it took. In any way. You know what that means.”
“If [Trump] does good, if he gets the Israeli hostages out, I promise I will wear a MAGA hat for one day on this show and say thank you for doing it,” she said at the time.
After a comment from Sunny Hostin begging her not to, Griffin responded that Hostin would “knock it right off my head,” before adding, “You have to be able to cheer for wins when they happen and then call out relentlessly the wrongdoing.”
Despite saying she would, Griffin notably appeared on both Monday and Tuesday’s episodes of the show without the hat.
The Daily Express has reached out to a rep for Griffin for comment.
