The overwhelming majority of Republicans, alongside Democrats and Independents, believe U.S. President Donald Trump should resign if his health “deteriorates significantly,” according to an exclusive poll.

Among the 1,300 likely voters who participated in the Democracy Institute survey following Labor Day weekend, a commanding majority (72%) suggested the president should stand down if his health declines.

However, a quarter (25%) rejected this position and 3% remained undecided. The shock poll comes as a bombshell poll reveals what Brits really think of Nigel Farage – bad news for Starmer.

Whilst survey respondents broadly agreed on whether the president should resign should his health deteriorate, there exists a rather pronounced split amongst political parties regarding whether the president’s mental and physical condition presents any cause for concern whatsoever.

The White House was forced to respond to health worries after concerning images emerged showing his swollen ankles and bruised hand, reports the Express US.

It transpired that the president had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a largely benign condition where blood struggles to flow to the hands and feet, though complications can arise, reports the Mirror US.

The White House maintains that the president remains in “excellent” health.

When examined by political party membership, 58% of Republican voters said yes, 35% disagreed and 8% were uncertain, compared to an overwhelming 94% of Democratic voters said yes, whilst 2% said no and 4% unsure, and 76% of Independent voters said yes, 23% said no and 1% were unsure. ‘Are you concerned about Trump’s health?’

However, the polling figures don’t necessarily suggest that a overwhelming number of Americans are anxious about Trump’s wellbeing.

When asked whether they are “concerned about President Trump’s health,” the majority of respondents said no (49%) compared to 41% of participants who voiced worry and 10% who remained undecided about their views on Trump’s wellbeing.

The split between political party affiliation in answering that question is remarkably clear.

A substantial majority of Democratic supporters (81%) voiced worry about Trump’s wellbeing, whilst 17% were not and 2% were undecided.

However, just 15% of Republican supporters indicated they were anxious about Trump’s wellbeing, whilst 83% said they were not worried.

Similarly, only 2% expressed uncertainty.

Independent voters placed themselves between the two parties, with the majority (47%) saying they were not anxious, compared to 35% who were and 18% who remained undecided. The partisan divide deepened further when respondents were asked whether they believed the White House was concealing information about the president’s health.

An overwhelming 91% of Democratic voters voiced concerns about a potential cover-up, whilst just 4% of Republican voters shared this view.

Merely 38% of Independent voters shared this worry.

In recent weeks, numerous unsubstantiated claims have emerged concerning the president’s wellbeing, though the White House maintains that the president remains in “excellent” health.

A considerable proportion of Democratic voters alongside a notable segment of Independent voters harbour concerns about Trump’s health, whilst Republicans predominantly dismiss such assertions.

A remarkable 89% of Democratic voters and more than one-third (36%) of Independent voters believe Trump is experiencing mental decline.

The overwhelming majority of Republicans (91%) refute these accusations.

Overall, most participants (47%) do not believe the president is suffering from mental deterioration.

The issue of elderly politicians has emerged as an increasing worry amongst voters following accusations of a cover-up regarding former President Biden’s health decline.

Since November 2022, no fewer than eight individuals of considerable age have died whilst serving in office.

President Trump holds the distinction of being the oldest person to take the presidential oath at 78 years of age, succeeding former President Biden, who was also 78 when inaugurated.

Trump is presently 79.
