US President-elect Donald Trump set out some of the major policies he wants to implement over the next four years during a press conference held on January 7.
While addressing Washington DC’s future foreign policy and how he will tackle immigration, Mr Trump said he is planning to rename the Gulf of Mexico.
Speaking from Mar-a-Lago in Florida, he said: “We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring. A lot of character.
“The Gulf of America, what a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate. It’s appropriate. And Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country. They can stop them.
“And we’re going to put very serious tariffs on Mexico and Canda because they come through Canada too. The drugs that are coming through are at record numbers.”
