The latest Marvel blockbuster is set to hit cinemas, marking a significant addition to the franchise.
Despite being dubbed as their first standalone film by studio heads including Kevin Feige, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be any meaningful connections to the overall franchise.
This is the first time these characters will grace the big screen since the rights were transferred back from Fox to Disney and Marvel.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, this film presents a different version of Earth than any of the previous movies.
Audiences will meet Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s interpretations of Marvel’s First Family, also known as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Known collectively as the Fantastic Four, they face their most formidable challenge yet.
Balancing their heroic duties with the strength of their family bond, they must protect Earth from a voracious space god named Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson, and his mysterious Herald, Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner.
If Galactus’ scheme to consume the entire planet and all its inhabitants wasn’t dreadful enough, it suddenly becomes intensely personal for our heroes, reports the Mirror.
Does The Fantastic Four: First Steps feature a post-credits scene?
Audiences will want to stay put even after the film seems to have concluded and before the lights are switched back on. This is due to the fact that there’s not only a post-credits scene but also a mid-credits scene.
We won’t give away all the details of what transpires in these scenes, however, rumours suggest they will have significant implications for future Marvel Cinematic Universe instalments.
It’s hardly surprising given that one of these scenes was helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The duo directed films such as Avengers Infinity War, Endgame and are slated to return with Doomsday.
There’s also a post-credits scene right at the conclusion of the film. Much like recent comic book movie releases, this scene adds a lighter, more enjoyable touch to the film rather than unveiling any major revelations.
The new Fantastic Four has already garnered an impressive 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, it doesn’t yet have a fan score, with the general public only just starting to see the film for themselves.
