Disney heartbreak as family spend thousands only to find out they were streaming vouchers

A trip of a lifetime ended in disaster for one family who made a huge error by investing their savings in the wrong place.

Two parents saved £10,000 to take their family to Disneyland, only to accidentally dedicate it to Disney streaming vouchers. Andie Coston’s parents were planning to take 16 members of the family to a Disney theme park on holiday over Christmas.

They hoped to save some money by buying gift cards from Sam’s Club, a membership discount service. But they accidentally spent £10,000 on vouchers for Disney+, a streaming service which contains unlimited Disney films for subscribers.

The revealed they had actually bought enough vouchers to pay for 70 years of the service.

Andie posted a video on TikTok asking people to help. She said she had noticed the mistake when her 78-year-old parents had problems loading the gift cards online.

She said: “Yup. We have $10k of Disney+ streaming services. That’s over 70 years of Disney+. We need help. It’s not about the money! It’s about getting the money in the right form.

“We leave in six days and the parks are selling out of tickets because it’s Christmas. My mom is distraught, dad frustrated, and the kids worried we won’t get to get to Disney.

Some had sympathy for them, while others wondered why they should help a clearly wealthy family who made a silly mistake.

But the nightmare was over when, a few days later, she posted another video saying that “Disney has contacted my parents and is turning the $10,000 of Disney streaming into $10,000 of Disney Parks tickets”.
