A nature reserve in Worcester has been swarmed by police this morning, with no one allowed on the grounds.
One police car, a dog unit and as many as 15 council officers have been spotted at Cherry Orchard Nature Reserve in Diglis.
Police are also stopping people entering Diglis Nature Reserve from St Mark’s Close, believed to be because of an eviction.
A Worcester City Council spokesman: “An eviction was undertaken this morning at Cherry Orchard Nature Reserve involving an individual who had been occupying part of the site for a considerable period of time.
“During that time, the Council and other agencies have regularly offered accommodation and personal support, but these offers have been repeatedly refused. In addition, there have been multiple reports of this individual directing abusive and threatening behaviour towards members of the public visiting the site.
“Worcester City Council obtained a High Court Writ of Enforcement in mid-January 2025 authorising eviction of the individual from the nature reserve. This morning Council officers, accompanied by High Court Bailiffs and the police, undertook that eviction and the clearing of the site.”
