Dietitians reveal the 1 fruit you should add to your breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s crucial you get all the nutrients you need to start your day in the best way possible. Experts say having a colourful breakfast with fruits and vegetables is important but there’s one item that stands out.

Whether you have cereal, granola, yoghurt, toast or eggs, you can always make your breakfast healthier by making a few simple changes. Byrdie reports: “Tiny, yet bursting with flavor, raspberries are an easy add-on to so many different types of breakfast, from smoothies to oatmeal to yogurt or even nut-butter-topped toast.

“Raspberries are small powerhouses of diverse phytonutrients, and because we eat the fruit whole (skin and seeds), the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients are easily obtained. Like most fruits, raspberries are also a great source of vitamin C and fiber.”

It adds that a one-cup (240ml) serving of raspberries contains about eight grams of fibre and 64 calories.

Not only will raspberries have nutritional benefits but they’ll also add a sweet and delicious flavour to your breakfast leaving you feeling healthy and fresh.

Health says: “Raspberries are antioxidant powerhouses with their high vitamin C content.

“One review noted higher intakes of antioxidant-rich fruits like raspberries are associated with a lower risk of diseases like cardiovascular disease and cancer.”

You can add raspberries into your porridge oats for a healthy addition. To enhance flavour, you could even add some cinnamon and vanilla to add depth.

If this isn’t your usual type of breakfast, you could create a smoothie bowl or a yoghurt bowl.

This is a breakfast option that’s easy to add more than one fruit into. For example, you could also add some banana or other berries. Finish with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of granola.

If you’re looking to make your breakfast healthier, raspberries are the perfect addition to a delicious morning meal.
