Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant has hired a high-powered law firm to help him fight off the misdemeanor charge he was hit with following a wild parking lot altercation last month.

A Southlake Municipal Court official told the California Post on Wednesday that Bryant has retained Levi McCathern’s team to represent him in his criminal case in Texas.

McCathern is currently the lawyer working with Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua in his civil case with his bite accuser Madison Atiabi.

The famed attorney also previously repped Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in a $100 million extortion case in 2024. Additionally, McCathern provided counsel for Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin in his 2023 case against a misconduct accuser.

McCathern did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment on the Bryant matter on Wednesday morning.

Bryant is facing one count of assault by contact after he was seen on video forcibly slapping a phone out of a 19-year-old’s hand during a dispute outside of a Southlake restaurant on Oct. 25.

Bryant and the teen, Noah Reyes, got into the altercation after Reyes had allegedly driven erratically around the former Dallas wide receiver on a nearby roadway.

Bryant told Outkick that when he confronted Reyes about his behavior behind the wheel, Reyes threatened him, and he only smacked the man’s phone out of his hand in an act of self-defense.

Reyes, meanwhile, told The Post that he did nothing wrong and Bryant was the aggressor in the situation.

The Southlake Police Department said in a statement that after officers arrived on the scene and investigated the ordeal, Bryant was the only one issued a citation.

Bryant, who turned 38 years old on Wednesday, is now due in court for a hearing in the case on Dec. 2.
