Derby 'explosion' LATEST: Huge plume of smoke and loud 'boom' heard in city centre


A huge plume of smoke has been seen above Derby city centre, sparking fears of an ‘explosion’. A picture posted online shows the thick cloud of black smoke rising above the city.

Residents reported hearing a loud ‘boom’ at around 1.30pm today (Friday, January 12). 

Express.co.uk has contacted Derbyshire Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue for comment.
