Debenhams has discounts of as much as 50% on perfumes and aftershaves on its website, including popular brands and luxury names. Given that Mother’s Day is just a few weeks away, it’s a very welcome sale – especially if you’re anything like me and are keen to avoid the last-minute rush for a gift.
If you want to treat the mum in your life (be that your mum, step-mum, grandma, auntie, best friend or partner) to something special this year, the sale offers a chance to pick up a gift she can use every day for a cut of the regular price.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that some of the most significant discounts don’t just apply to cheap perfumes or brands I haven’t heard of but also include some well-known names in the scent world.
One of the biggest perfume discounts I spotted was as much as 63% off a handful of Calvin Klein scents, including Calvin Klein Euphoria (discounted from £90 to just £26). And though we are on the topic of Mother’s Day, it’s not just women’s scents included in the sale, with plenty of aftershaves included, too. Calvin Kelin’s CKin2U is one of the masculine scents with the most considerable discount – reduced by a purse-friendly 64% to just £20.
I was particularly pleased when I stumbled on one of my mum’s favourite perfumes included in the sale (I’ve already organised her present, but if I hadn’t, this would be an instant hit).
She has been a fan of the Ghost perfumes for years and particularly likes to wear them for work. There are a few different fragrances in the Ghost collection, but as part of the Debenhams sale, you can save 20% on the Orb Of Night Eau De Parfum. Unsurprisingly, the 30ml bottle is the cheapest, down from £29 to £23.30. Comparatively, the same bottle will set you back £29 at Boots right now.
There are also 50ml and 75ml bottles, which are discounted by 20%, on sale for £35.20 and £44 respectively. It’s a soft, musky scent with floral notes and an undertone of amber.
Thanks to their unique bottles, Ghost perfumes make particularly good gifts. In this case, it’s an amber-hued crescent moon—perfect for someone who likes to display their scent collection.
Several of Mugler’s fragrances are also on sale, including one of my historic signature scents. I was a die-hard Alien fan from high school through university and right into my 20s. It wasn’t until recently that I stopped reaching for the jewel-like purple bottle every day and transitioned to my new signature scent from Le Labo.
But the unique scent still holds a special place in my heart. Now Alien is on sale, reduced by 15% to £58.65; I’m tempted to stock up, especially when you consider that it’s still full price at the likes of The Perfume Shop.
You’ll probably recognise the smell; I notice it anytime someone around me is wearing it because it smells like no other perfume. Mugler describes it as “otherworldly”—it is actually a blend of jasmine, amber, and woody notes.
Mugler’s iconic sweet eau de perfume, Angel, is also on sale—it is discounted by 15% from £69 to £58.65.
