Dave Grohl names best horror film ever – he's 'watched it 50 times'

Dave Grohl is a fond lover of film, often taking inspiration from the pictures into his music with the band Foo Fighters. The lead singer and guitarist has long been known as a film buff, in fact in 2022, he starred in a comedy-horror film, Studio 666, along with the rest of the Foos.

Though people may not think it at first, the genre of horror is pretty vast. Containing everything from psychological thrillers to vivid slasher movies. Its jumpy and intense nature draws parallels with the world of rock music and often directors have opted for rock music to accompany scenes in their horror flicks.

With that in mind, it is no surprise that the Foo Fighters would also align with this viewpoint following their cameo in Studio 666.

Grohl particularly has voiced his passion for the genre saying that works such as John Carpenter’s Halloween helped to influence much of his music career. So much so, that he stays up to date with the new trends in the horror world.

Often the genre divides opinions with some not believing the storytelling to be realistic enough while others are die hard horror fans and Grohl would be one of them.

Before the release of Studio 666 in 2022 Grohl listed some of his favourite scary movies in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

He highlighted Robert Eggers’ directorial debut, The Witch, stating: “That film is not only beautiful and a work of great actors and a great director, but, man, there’s something about a good Salem witch possession that will always scare me more than any Saw movie or any Ring movie.”

He added: “I’ve watched that movie 50 f****** times; I love that film.”

Eggers has more recently released Nostferatu which was a hit with people outside of the horror world as well as the loyal fans.

Although The Witch and Studio 666 are considerably different, Grohl’s love of the genre is clear.
