Date Prince Harry could reunite with King Charles this Christmas to 'talk things through'

Prince Harry may be hoping for a family reunion over the Christmas holidays, as according to a source he is keen to patch things up with his father, King Charles.

The Duke of Sussex is said to be feeling “lonely” thousands of miles away from the royal festivities as Sandringham, and while Prince William may be less keen, Harry reportedly wants to spend more time with his family in the UK.

A source told OK! magazine: “Harry is still holding out hope for a family reunion over the holidays, despite William putting his foot down.

“William is adamant that he doesn’t want to come face to face with his brother until they have been able to sit down and hash things out. It is proving an almost impossible task to get the brothers in the same place at the same time.”

However the King is more open to the idea as he wants to build a relationship with his younger grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the source adding: “There was talk of possibly meeting up with the King on Boxing Day or even over New Year’s so that Charles can see his grandchildren and they can sit down in a friendly environment and talk things through.”

Unfortunately for Harry any family reunion is “not looking likely” at the moment, particularly as his wife Meghan Markle feels quite differently about spending time in the UK.

The source continued: “Harry wants nothing more than to be able to spend time in the UK this Christmas. He’s got invites from friends to join them and it’s where he feels at home.

“He doesn’t feel the Americans can do Christmas like the Brits and he certainly doesn’t think that anyone can celebrate Christmas like the Windsors.

“Meghan doesn’t want to come back to the UK at all. She’s got her heart set on staying in California. She wants to build her life there, bring up the family there and focus on her career.

“I think Harry is the complete opposite – I think he has his heart set on bringing his family back to the UK. I’m sure it’s a very difficult situation for them as a family to be in.”

Before the release of Endgame at the end of last month, the Sussexes had hinted that they would be open to accepting an invite to Sandringham for Christmas, should one be forthcoming.

If they did bring their children over for the festive season, it would mark only the second time the King has ever met Lilibet, his youngest granddaughter.

Lilibet was born in California in June 2021, after Harry and Meghan had left the Royal Family, and has only visited the UK once, for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

Harry and Meghan did not bring Archie and Lilibet with them when they attended the late Queen’s funeral, while Meghan also did not accept her invite to the Coronation.
