There have already been plenty of surprises at the World Darts Championship and a few more could be thrown up on day three. A couple of big names crashed out of the tournament on Monday, with James Wade and Cameron Menzies both suffering defeats.
Wade became the first seeded player to exit the competition, slipping to a one-sided loss at the hands of Jermaine Wattimena. He remains without a win at Alexandra Palace since 2022, while Wattimena will play in round three for the first time in four years.
Menzies, meanwhile, was beaten by Leonard Gates and looked highly emotional throughout the match. He was seen wiping tears from his eyes during the final two legs as the crowd began to ironically cheer when he stepped up to the oche.
A number of exciting matches will take place on Tuesday, with Noa-Lynn van Leuven set to make history as the first transgender player in World Darts Championship history.
Later in the day, Fallon Sherrock will face Ryan Meikle with the winner going up against tournament favourite Luke Littler in the next round.
