Dan Quinn’s head is in the sand, and his odds to get fired are in the sky.

The Commanders head coach surged up Kalshi’s next NFL coach to be fired market, owning a 47 percent share as of Tuesday afternoon.

Quinn is under immense scrutiny after Sunday’s 27-27 tie to the Giants that showcased one of the most inexplicable clock management blunders in recent memory.

Washington squandered a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter before a prime chance to seize the game in overtime. After recovering a Cam Skattebo fumble, Washington advanced to the Giants’ 24-yard line with 12 seconds remaining and no timeouts.

Rather than attempt a potential game-winning field goal, quarterback Jayden Daniels took a sack, allowing the clock to expire before Washington could spike the ball or send out its kicking unit.

“It starts with me first off, no doubt about it,” Quinn said on Monday.

Quinn surpassed Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni for the next axing. Sirianni owns a 17-percent projection after coaching Philadelphia to a third straight second-half collapse in its 19-17 defeat to Jacksonville.

The Commanders’ tie moved them to 1-3-1 and last place of the NFC East. They have just three wins in their last 17 games, and this wasn’t an isolated incident for Quinn. He has used at least one timeout before the final five minutes of a half in 28 of his 42 games coaching Washington, burning 48 such timeouts overall.

Discipline is also a mounting concern.

Washington committed 21 pre-snap penalties, and after Quinn went as far to bring officials into practice last week, the team responded with three false starts against the Giants.

It’s a stunning reversal from Quinn’s debut season in 2024, when he led Washington to a 12-5 record, an NFC Championship game and finished fourth in NFL Coach of the Year voting.

Asked about his job security, Quinn pointed to his frequent, candid conversations with principal owner Josh Harris.

“That’s a normal process for us,” Quinn said. “Trust me, no one is pleased with this outcome and where we’re at.”

As Quinn’s margin for error dwindles to virtually nothing, the Commanders visit the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on Monday night before entering their bye week.
