Cruise ship holidays can be a pricey affair, with costs soaring up to £2,000 per person, but savvy travellers can still make the most of their sea voyage without breaking the bank. Experts from Air and Cruise Parking have tapped into the knowledge of cruise insiders to bring you the best tips for enhancing your time aboard.

Firstly, former P&O crew member Natasha advises holidaymakers to immerse themselves in the experience and avoid costly internet packages: “I recommend waiting until you’re at a port to use Wi-Fi at local cafes,” she suggests. “Cruise Wi-Fi isn’t worth the high cost, especially when free options are available onshore.”

Water, an essential yet often overpriced commodity on cruise ships, is another area where passengers can save, according to Harry, who has worked with both P&O and Cunard. He recommends: “A reusable water bottle can be a lifesaver for your budget. Onboard water is often heavily marked up, so this simple tip can add up to big savings.”

When it comes to quenching your thirst with something more indulgent, Yasmin Peckel, a cruise expert from Blue Cruise, points out the benefits of pre-booking drink packages. “If you plan to enjoy cocktails or coffee regularly, a package can save you considerably.” she explains, reports the Daily Record.

She notes that many ships offer unlimited drink packages that include alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, smoothies, and even specialty coffees from chains like Starbucks onboard. Yasmin adds: “Booking these packages before you board is often cheaper, so you can relax without worrying about drink costs adding up.”

When it comes to selecting the perfect cabin for your cruise, experts suggest opting for quieter options away from bustling areas like anchors or entertainment hubs. The least appealing cabins are typically found in the centre of the ship; however, there’s a compelling reason you might consider booking one.

Harry from P&O Cruises notes, “Cabins in the middle of the ship without windows are some of the least desirable,” but Yasmin highlights that mid-ship cabins near water level are the best bet for those who suffer from seasickness due to their stability. “Midship cabins near water level offer stability, making them ideal for passengers prone to seasickness,” she explains.

For novices setting sail for the first time, Yasmin offers some priceless advice: “Arrive at the embarkation port a day early. Delayed flights are common, and cruise ships rarely wait for late passengers.”

She also suggests booking cruises well in advance to secure the best prices, but mentions that last-minute bookings can be fruitful too: “Watch for last-minute deals if you’re flexible-they often come with valuable perks like free Wi-Fi or discounted drink packages.”

Additionally, Air and Cruise Parking presents a variety of parking choices, from long-term to short-term, including valet and economy options, to make your travel experience as smooth as possible.

The platform, Air and Cruise Parking, is engineered to streamline the parking process, providing real-time availability and effortless booking features.

Whether you’re jetting off for a swift business trip or a lengthy holiday, it’s your ultimate solution for stress-free vacation parking.
