Cruise passengers have been urged to pack one essential item for their cabins before setting sail. Tanner Callais from Cruzely.com, which specialises in cruise advice, identified the must-have in a YouTube clip viewed more than 130,000 times.
Callais tells viewers that after 30 cruises, he has learned “a thing or two” about cruise tips. This includes taking an item that would prove useful in the loo. He explains that bathrooms on board will be small and only really have space for one person at a time.
The seasoned cruise ship passenger says no matter how luxurious the voyage is, the toilet paper in the cabin will be “awful”.
He tells Cruzely’s YouTube subscribers: “It’s that one-ply stuff you can almost see through. Let’s say it can be a little bit rough.”
Callais goes on to identify wet wipes as the one essential he always takes for his cabin.
He says: “Not only are they great for feeling fresher down there, but you can also use them to wipe down surfaces in the cabin if you’re worried about them not being clean enough.”
His final piece of advice on wet wipes is to be sure not to flush them down the loo as that can clog the pipes.
Other tips from Callais include not making too much noise to avoid disturbing neighbours; making sure your cabin door is closed properly and ensuring your cabin door key card is on you when you leave your room so it doesn’t get locked inside.
Callais advises always checking your room’s safe on day one and figuring out which switches power which lights to avoid being stunned when switching on a light expecting a duller brightness but being hit with something much brighter by accident.
Smokers should avoid smoking in their cabins or balconies to avoid a hefty fine. Instead, they should light up in designated areas to help ensure “happy sailing.”
