Going on a cruise is always an exciting adventure, especially if its your first trip. But it’s important for beginners to be aware of a few tips and tricks so that you get the most out of your cruise.

One TikToker has highlighted the four mistakes first time cruise passengers always make. Cruise Tips and Chat often posts about how to optimize your travels.

He said the number one most common question he gets asked from non-cruisers is “oh I expect you’ll be dining at the captain’s table?”

However, he explains that that’s not usually the case unless you are very high up on the loyalty programme. “Very, very few people ever dine with the captain,” he explained.

Another question he always gets asked from non-cruisegoers is, “isn’t it going to be like the Titanic?” He explains that in 2024, there are now a lot of safety measures in place.

He said he’s not worried about icebergs in modern cruise ships that have all the gear on bored.

A third question he gets asked is “won’t you be bored on the ship all day?” He said: “No, have you ever seen a cruise ship in 2024?

“They are full of great things to do on board. Of course you’ve got your sundecks, swimming pools and you’ve got all your other entertainment on board all through the day.”

A final question he spoke about was people assuming you’ll get seasick if you’re on board all day. He responded with: “No, I’ve been seasick once on a cruise but I took some sea sickness medication and I was fine within an hour.

“As long as you’re prepared for sea sickness then it shouldn’t be a problem.”

A lot of avid cruisegoers commented on the video with similar questions they had received from others.

One said: “I always get ‘I’d hate to be stuck on a boat’. People don’t realise how big they are, how much there is to do and the fact you wake up in a new place most days!”

Another said: “Been asked about being bored when everyone gets off at port and I don’t, I love the quietness and being able to go around on my mobility scooter always something going on all the time.”
