It was a very important celebration for Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden as she celebrated her ‘name day’ on March 12 and marked the occasion by meeting and greeting royal fans and accepting flowers. A name day is a special, annual day that is usually celebrated on the date associated with the Christian saint for whom a person is named after.
The Royal Family of Sweden took to Instagram to share two posts offering a snapshot of the future queen’s latest engagement. One picture showed a series of images of the Crown Princess, 47, looking immaculate in royal blue military regalia as she stepped out from the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Carrying a giant bouquet of beautiful flowers, she posed officially for the snap. The other images showed Victoria as she beamed and met the royal fans who were gathered outside the Palace to wish the Crown Princess well on her special day. The post was captioned: “Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated the Crown Princess’s name day today.”
The Swedish heir-to-the-throne sported a navy blue suit to honour her military contributions, slipping into a double breasted jacket with gold buttons and a Swedish flag emblazoned on the shoulder. Her brown tresses were worn up in low bun beneath a royal blue cap with the Swedish military crest pattered on the front.
A video was also shared depicting Crown Princess Victoria and the Armed Forces, followed by the Princess meeting royal admirers, who even gifted a few heartwarming presents to the mother-of-two.
The additional video read: “The Crown Princess was guarded today by the National Defense Forces on her name day.”
The Princess is currently undertaking her special officer training (SOFU), a training course for employees in the Armed Forces.
At midday, the Army Band performed a musical programme, which was followed by the High Guard and honour guard presenting a bouquet of flowers to Victoria.
Victoria’s actual birthday falls in July, when the family typically gather at Solliden Palace in Öland. As such, she instead celebrates the day in March when the family is present in the capital.
Crown Princess Victoria’s latest appearance comes just a few days after she attended the 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships’ final in Norway.
