A massive fire broke out at a medical warehouse in Tracy on Thursday, leading to gas tank explosions and filling the sky with thick black smoke.

According to the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services, the fire ignited shortly before 2 p.m. at the facility located in the ProLogis International Park of Commerce.

Authorities said the blaze was limited to the Medline building, but nearby structures were cleared as a precaution.

“Medline building is fully engulfed with a second warehouse being threatened,” the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority said. “Crews remain on scene with heavy response apparatus. Please avoid the area and yield to all emergency personnel.”

Tracy police reported the incident in the 5700 block of Promontory Parkway, where emergency responders worked alongside personnel from the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority.

Aerial video from the scene showed towering black smoke rising from the warehouse complex.

Several big-rig containers and other vehicles appeared to be engulfed in flames.

Officers assisted with evacuations and managed traffic around the scene.
