Costa Coffee set to close more sites in 2024 – full list of affected locations

Many supermarkets and retailers were affected by store closures last year. Costa Coffee closed at least eight branches in 2023, and recently announced more will be shutting down in 2024.

Some of the affected locations last year were the branches in Coliseum retail park in Ellesmere Port, in Cheshire, Welch Way, in Witney, Wigan town centre, Church Street, in Oakham, and West Bridgford.

A spokesperson for Costa Coffee confirmed two coffee shops will shut their doors in February: “We can confirm that our Costa Coffee store on Bruntsfield Place will close its doors for trade on February 14, 2024.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Customers can continue to enjoy their favourite Costa Coffee at our nearby store on Morningside Road.”

However, it’s not all bad news as the coffee chain recently opened a brand new drive-thru at Lowestoft’s North Quay retail park, in Suffolk.

Marks and Spencer announced last year its plans to close a total of 67 UK stores and relocate 10. Some of the affected locations included the sites in Meadowbank Retail Park, Edinburgh, London’s Fenchurch Street, Castleford and Middleborough.

This was part of the retailer’s strategy to save £300million, and although this year’s locations have not been confirmed, it is believed more M&S shops will permanently close in 2024.

Luckily, the retailer announced it will also be opening new supermarkets across the UK in the next few months.

New Marks and Spencer stores opening this year:

  • Linlithgow – opening in January 2024
  • Largs – opening in spring 2024
  • Dundee – opening in spring 2024
