Terrifying video shows the moment a speeding Corvette smashed head on into a bus full of tourists who were traveling along a scenic stretch of a California coastal town.
The heart-stopping moment was captured by the bus dashcam when the group was touring the Monterey area, traveling along the 17 Mile Drive west of Majella Road in Monterey County on May 16.
The California Highway patrol said the driver of a red Corvette smashed into the tour bus full of 48 passengers at a “high rate of speed.”
The dashcam footage showed the moment the speeding driver for unknown reasons, crossed over the double yellow line and veered right into the bus’s pathway, colliding with it head on.
Video from inside the bus also showed the moment the Corvette struck the bus, causing the tourists inside to get thrown out of their seats by the impact of the crash.
The driver of the car sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, per the CHP.
Amazingly, only one passenger on the bus sustained an injury, while the rest reported no injuries.

The Corvette driver was suspected of driving under the influence and was placed under arrest.
The last shot from the dashcam shows part of what’s left of the mangled car following the crash.
In a message posted on the CHP Facebook, it said that the agency “reminds motorists to never drive under the influence and to always drive at a safe speed.”
“Reckless driving decisions can have life-changing consequences for everyone on the roadway.”
The Post reached out to Monterey CHP for further comment.
