Cooking bacon in a frying pan can be incredibly messy with oil splattering everywhere, and it can leave you with a pile of greasy dishes that need to be washed afterwards.

There is no denying that frying bacon will leave you with perfectly crispy strips, but there is a simple way to get the same great texture without all the clean-up afterwards.

Jo-Anna, a cooking expert and founder of Our Tasty Kitchen, has shared you can ditch oil and your frying pan as bacon is much tastier when it comes out of the oven.

She said: “You can cook bacon in the oven, and it’s SO EASY. By far, this is the easiest, most mess-free, fuss-free method for cooking bacon.”

The key to cooking bacon without any mess is lining a tray with baking paper, as all the fat and grease will stay on the paper, which you can simply toss in the bin after you are done cooking.

Cooking bacon in the oven will also make it crispier the heat can be evenly distributed rather than focusing on one spot, so the whole of the meat will crisp up at the same time.

The white fat on bacon cooks faster than the pink meat, which means when fried in oil it can cause the bacon edges to be charred while the middle of the meat is undercooked.

Bacon that is cooked in the oven will also not be coated in oil so will taste much better, which will make your bacon sandwiches even more delicious.

How to properly cook bacon in the oven.

All you need to do is line a tray with baking paper and then place your bacon single file on the tray, making sure none of the strips overlap.

Heat the oven so it is 200C and then place the tray in the middle of the oven.

Cook the bacon for roughly 10 minutes, but you can keep it in the oven for longer if you want it to be even crispier.

Once the bacon is ready, transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels as it will soak up the excess fat.

Your crispy bacon is now ready to eat. Put it on a buttery roll or add it as part of a big mouthwatering English breakfast.

After cooking, leave the baking paper on the tray for a least 30 minutes to allow the grease to cool. Then simply peel it off the tray and throw it in the bin.
