Cook a baked potato in 10 minutes with chef’s ‘game changing’ method that uses no oven

The cooking time for jacket potatoes is a big downside to when rustling them up for lunch or dinner.

Cooking a baked potato can take a while in the oven, and even in the air fryer too.

To minimise the cooking time significantly, a chef has shared a baked potato recipe that takes just 10 minutes.

With over two million followers, home chef Josh Elkin has taken to his TikTok account @thejoshelkin to share how a baked potato can be cooked in 10 minutes.

The tip involves putting your microwave to use instead of the oven or air fryer.

Josh starts by washing the potato to make sure there’s no hidden dirt laying around.

He then proceeds to use a fork to poke holes into both sides of the potato five times.

The next step is to microwave the potato for five minutes, before turning it over and microwaving it for a further five minutes.

After taking the potato out of the microwave, Josh showed that the inside was super fluffy.

He then shared a great tip to make sure that butter is “evenly distributed” throughout the potato.

To do so, Josh sliced the top off of it and made diagonal cuts into the potato, making sure not to cut it all the way through, and then turned the potato to the side and made more diagonal cuts going the opposite way.

He said: “Then you end up getting this diagonal cut pattern. That’s how to make a baked potato in 10 minutes with even butter distribution.”

Taking to the comments section, users shared their thoughts on this baked potato cooking tip.

@prettyterps claimed: “It was actually really good! I just tried this.@katiewcorey noted: “The slicing technique is life-changing.”

@boujii_fashionista said: “I love it. Total game changer.” @slaycore279 wrote: “Wow that looks so good! I might have to try it sometime.”
