Condensation will disappear from windows with expert’s 3 tips

Condensation on windows is a common issue that many people have to deal with, especially during the colder months of late autumn and winter. This problem arises when the warm air inside meets the cold window glass, causing moisture and water droplets to form, which can lead to dampness and mould.

If left untreated, the mould can lead to some serious health consequences. BBC Weather presenter Simon King recently shared some helpful tips for dealing with condensation this season. You won’t need to fork out for a dehumidifier just yet, but change three things you do around your home.

He said: “Have you been waking up to condensation on your windows? It happens because warm, moist air inside your room close to the windows will cool down at night.

“And because colder air can’t hold as much moisture, water vapour in the air condenses into water droplets on your cold window glass.”

Simon continued: “It’s difficult to stop this from happening.”

However, there are three simple steps everyone can do in order to reduce the likelihood of condensation forming on windows. These include:

Some cleaning fans have previously suggested using washing up liquid as a quick solution for condensation. Simply apply the washing up liquid  onto a flannel or microfibre cloth, wiping all over the window.

The dish soap helps to create a barrier on the glass, preventing water droplets from forming. However, experts warned that this should only be used as a temporary solution to the problem.

GLRE Glazing Refurbishment explained that washing up liquid will work as a temporary solution. Its experts explained that the hack works by creating a thin film that lowers surface tension and prevents water droplets from forming on a cold surface.

However GLRE warned: “Remember, it’s a temporary solution and may not completely stop condensation, especially on colder days. It’s best applied to the bottom of the windows where condensation tends to accumulate the most.”
