Cole Palmer was removed from Chelsea’s starting XI as a “precautionary” ahead of the Blues’ Friday night clash against West Ham United.
Sky Sports provided an update during the first half of the match, with Enzo Maresca believed to have confirmed the late change came after Palmer “felt something” during the warm-up.
Suspicions were raised at the London Stadium when the television cameras spotted Palmer leaving the warm-up early, with a member of the Chelsea backroom staff following just behind. Palmer had taken part in the full warm-up, but was visibly unhappy when he was trudging off the pitch.
It was quickly confirmed that the Englishman had picked up a knock and was unable to start the match as intended.
