Coldplay have had an interesting week. They became an internet sensation after a couple were spotted hugging at one of their gigs on the Jumbotron camera. “Oh, look at these two,” Chris Martin said, as the purported couple ducked and covered from the camera. “Come on, you’re OK. Oh what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” It ultimately turned out that the man and woman were colleagues at tech company Astronomer, and Andy Byron, the CEO, resigned shortly thereafter. Now, Liam Gallagher has weighed in on the event.
The Oasis star just played his final show at Manchester’s Heaton Park while on the band’s hugely popular reunion tour. Speaking out to his crowd, he asked: “Do we have any lovebirds in the house?”
With a wry smile, Liam added: “Don’t worry, we don’t got any of that Coldplay snidey f*****g camera s**t.
“Doesn’t matter to us who you’re f*****g mingling with, or tingling with, or f*******g with. It’s none of our f*****g business.”
Finally, he dedicated Oasis’ performance of Slide Away to “the lovebirds” (via NME).
Since this viral event occurred, Byron, the Astronomer CEO, tended his resignation on July 19, 2025. He has been at the company since 2023.
Coldplay’s unfortunate use of the Jumbotron camera was part of their Music of the Spheres tour, which is currently on its way through the USA.
In just a few weeks’ time, they’ll be hitting the UK to finish off their world tour. And once they return home, they’ll be playing 12 shows in two stadiums.
First up, Hull’s Craven Park Stadium – the first time they have ever performed at this enormous venue.
After that, Coldplay have signed up for ten shows at London’s Wembley Stadium.
And tickets are still available now, if you know where to look. We’ve detailed everything fans need to know below.
