CNN halts for urgent ‘breaking news’ – it could be bad news for Trump | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

CNN’s regular broadcast was interrupted for a breaking update about late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein during a report from Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC. The breaking news broadcast to viewers was about the White House denying that Donald Trump wrote Epstein a letter and called the investigation a Democratic “hoax”.

The CNN host treaded carefully around the claims during any Epstein segment of the American live news programme in what could be bad news for the President of the United States. The news anchor explained: “We should note, and it’s important to, that we’ve seen no wrongdoing on Trump’s part.”

It comes after the White House press secretary told reporters that the President did not write Epstein a card which included the outline of a female’s body for the sex trafficker’s 50th birthday.

The card in question was signed by “Donald” at the bottom, but the press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said the writing was not Trump’s actual signature.

When questioned if the administration would back a professional handwriting expert review of the letter Trump reportedly sent to prove his signature was not on the bottom of it, she said: “Sure, we would support that.”

Leavitt claimed she had seen many forensic analysts who stated it was not Trump’s authentic signature.

Trump declined to comment on the card he is alleged to have sent to Epstein, NBC News reported.

According to NBC News’ White House correspondent Garrett Haake, Trump branded it a “dead issue” when he was contacted yesterday.

The world leader reportedly replied: “I don’t comment on something that’s dead. I gave all the comments to the staff. It’s a dead issue.”

CNN airs daily on Sky, Freeview and YouTube.
