Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected from his team’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday for spitting on Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers.

And this was seemingly not the first time Gardner-Johnson has spat on an opposing player, if San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk is to be believed.

Juszczyk, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, made an X post in the wake of Gardner-Johnson’s ejection that read, “This is the least surprising thing ever. @CGJXXIII spit on me last year when we beat Chicago”.

The post has gone viral, amassing over 1.7 million views on X in less than a day.

Gardner-Johnson issued an apology for his actions on social media after the game, writing on his Instagram story, “I want to take a moment to address my actions and sincerely apologize to my opponent, my teammates, my organization, and everyone who supports me.

“My passion and competitive nature have always been a huge part of who I am, but I also understand that there is a line that should never be crossed. The gesture I made toward my opponent was inappropriate, unnecessary, and not a reflection of the respect I have for him or this game,” the apology continued.

“There is no excuse for my actions, and I take full accountability. No matter how emotional or intense the competition gets, I have to hold myself to a higher standard,” Gardner-Johnson added before apologizing to Bowers directly.

Gardner-Johnson’s apology becomes harder to believe if what Juszczyk claims is true, and this isn’t Gardner-Johnson’s first time spitting on an opponent.
