Christian Scott offers Mets a reminder in spring training

Observations from Mets’ spring training on Monday:

Great Scott

Christian Scott was sharp during live batting practice, striking out Juan Soto (on four pitches) and Bo Bichette in succession.

The right-hander is returning from Tommy John surgery rehab that cost him last season.

Hanging in there

Justin Hagenman also threw multiple innings of live batting practice.

The right-hander was a spot starter for the Mets last season after arriving on a major league contract despite having never pitched above the Triple-A level.

Caught my eye

Carlos Beltrán was around the batting cage in uniform for the team’s first full-squad workout.

Beltrán, a special assistant, announced in recent weeks that he would be wearing a Mets cap on his Hall of Fame plaque.

Tuesday’s schedule

Full-squad workouts continue ahead of Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Marlins at Clover Park.
