Christian Horner will not be joining Alpine as team principal, according to Flavio Briatore. Earlier this weekend, the former Red Bull team principal was also ruled out of a job with the new Cadillac team, who will enter the series in 2026 with Graeme Lowdon at the helm.
Horner was dismissed by Red Bull in July after 20 years as the team principal. He also served a number of other roles within the company, making his next steps harder to predict. Few other F1 organisations can offer something close to the power that he enjoyed in Milton Keynes, and with high-ranking management roles currently at a premium in the paddock, his path back into the show is unclear.
Cadillac was mooted as a potential landing spot and an interesting project for the 51-year-old, but Dan Towriss shot down that idea ahead of the Dutch GP. “I would like to officially shut down that rumour,” he declared. “Our support, belief and backing is 100 per cent in Graeme Lowdon.”
Briatore, who returned to Alpine last year and has a strong relationship with Horner, ruled out Alpine as a destination, too. “I’m not considering – in this moment – anything,” he said on Friday. “Christian is not in Formula One in this moment anymore, I hope he comes back soon, but for the moment he’s not in the picture of Alpine.”
