Chris Drury set his price for Vincent Trocheck, and the Rangers president and general manager stood firm.
Trocheck was one of the most valuable assets advertised on this year’s trade market, but the 3 p.m. deadline came and went without an offer that satisfied Drury’s ask. The Rangers were not going to trade Trocheck just to trade him, but the stretch leading up to the trade deadline was ultimately much quieter than the organization’s initial actions indicated.
The Blueshirts knew Trocheck remaining in New York was always a possibility, and they were evidently OK with it.
“It didn’t make any sense to do something just to say we did it, or to do something just because we wrote a letter,” Drury said in a conference call with reporters at the end of the day Friday.
