Chocolate chip cookies will taste amazing if you add 1 ingredient

Chocolate chip cookies are a fan favourite across many households with the oozing chocolate from the middle evoking a feeling of excitement. The classic afternoon treat made from a buttery dough often has a sweet flavour with rich notes of chocolate, but achieving this perfect combination isn’t always easy.

Bakers who want to take their cookies to the next level should add one simple household item that millions will drink every day. One user on reddit says their secret ingredient to make their sweet treat even better is coffee grounds meaning you can have your coffee and literally eat it. The user said: “Coffee grounds in chocolate chip cookies. Trust me.”

However, before you reach for the coffee in your cupboard you need to make sure its the right one. The reddit user advises using ground coffee over instant coffee which gives it a “weird texture”.

The instant coffee, made from beans that must be brewed before drinking, may change the way you bake forever.

The user said: “Instant just gives it a weird texture because it basically dissolves. I use about a teaspoon of regular coffee grounds per two dozen cookies”.

In response one user said: “I usually put a spoonful or two in a drop of water to dissolve and add it to brownie batter, it’s the best.”

“My mom does this for brownies. Its amazing, cant testify to cookies but assuming it is the same greatness”, said a second.

A third added: “I use one teaspoon in my chocolate cake. You can start with 1/2 teaspoon and go from there.”

By adding this simple ingredient your cookies should have a rich buttery flavour, a delicious gooey and chocolatey cookie with the addition of a coffee flavour and lots of chocolate chips.

The coffee should really help deepen the chocolate flavour without overpowering the buttery, chewy cookie crumb, creating a seriously bakery-worthy cookie.
