The Lionesses have done it again, etching their names in the history books as they win back-to-back victories at the Women’s Euros 2025 Final. Beating Spain in a nail-biting performance after 120 minutes and 3-1 on penalties, with Chloe Kelly stepping up to seal the deal for England.
Cementing herself as one of England’s heroines in the final, Chloe eased her way past Spain’s Cata Coll to clinch the win. As BBC Sports commentator Vicki Sparks said: “This is it, this is the moment for Chloe Kelly. Can she be England’s heroine? Chloe Kelly… yes she can!”

Kelly pulled out all the stops to bring England out of trouble, not once, not twice, but three times. Partnered up with young gun Lioness Michelle Agyemang, the pair revived the nation’s hope for a stellar win to give a “proper English performance” which ended in European glory.
Chloe was caught saying after the ceremony: “The first time was so nice, we had to do it twice.”
But away from the pitch, she keeps her cards close to her chest. After marrying her long-time partner last year, the beginning of 2025 nearly saw her walk away from the sport.

Which team does Chloe Kelly play for?
The beginning of 2025 was a tough one for England’s heroine, speaking out about the treatment she received at her former club Manchester City, accusing them of ‘assassinating her character’, according to The Guardian. The footballer spoke out in January, explaining that she didn’t see “a future” at Man City, before being swooped up by Arsenal.
There had been conversations around Kelly’s lack of appearances for the Manchester club, starting just once for the club in the 2024/25 season. She’d also spoken out about her desire to quit the sport altogether before making the move to London.
She broke her silence on the matter with a last-minute plea to be permitted to leave the club. On Instagram, Chloe wrote in January: “A message from me… For a long time I’ve tried to work through professional challenges privately, not commenting publicly, but with my situation increasingly being debated in the public domain I feel it’s time to be open and transparent and you heard it from my perspective.
“A key lesson I have learned in my life is that whilst I can’t control someone’s negative behaviour towards me, I can control how long I am prepared to tolerate it.
“From Day One, I’ve felt so much love from my teammates and the fans. WIth my contract expiring in June I’ve accepted my future is not at this club beyond then.
“With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country. Something which has always filled me with such pride and it is a true honour to do so. However to be dictated whom I can and can’t join with only 4 months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental well being. The situation has dragged on for too long, it’s disappointing and not right.
“I’m at a pivotal point in my life and my career is so important to me and is very disappointing that the sport we love can make you feel this way especially after there’s been so much growth in our sport. This is why I’m posting this because I want to make you all aware that we as players dedicate our lives to our sport and our clubs but our dreams can be crushed whilst we live in silence.
“I am human and I have and will give everything to the game that I love. Ultimately I just want to be happy again.”
A day later, Chloe announced her return to her first club, Arsenal, with an old photo of her playing for the team years prior alongside the words, “Pursuit of happyness”. She signed for the North London team on a free transfer from Manchester City.
She made her first appearance for Arsenal in February. Chloe’s transfer ended with her winning the Champions League title against Barcelona in May, alongside England teammates Lea Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Beth Mead and Alessia Russo. Her permanent signing for Arsenal was announced at the beginning of July after waving goodbye to Man City, thanking the fans and her former teammates.
Arsenal Women’s team shared a video of Kelly walking into the changing room, aloing with the caption: “How could she not?”
She ends the 2024/25 season with a Champions League title and a second Women’s Euros win under her belt.

How much does Chloe Kelly get paid?
According to the BBC, Women’s Super League players receive an average salary of £47,000 per year. Both England’s women’s and men’s players are paid the same match fee of £2,000 per game – this has been the same since 2020.

Who is Chloe Kelly’s husband?
The Euros 2025 was Chloe’s first tournament as a married woman. Her husband, Scott Moore, was seen in the crowd celebrating when she took England’s final penalty.
Scott keeps his social media accounts private, but the Lioness shared his tribute to her own Instagram Story. With Chloe’s winners medal hung around his neck, Scott wrote: “Speechless once again. Love you.”
Chloe added her own comment: “I’m so grateful to have you by my side.”
Viewers watching the Euros will remember catching a glimpse of the footballer taping up her custom shin pads featuring a drawing of the couple on their wedding day. The pair first met when Chloe was playing for Everton, where she went on loan from Arsenal between 2016 and 2018, signing permanently in 2018.
While Chloe was tearing up the pitch, Scott worked as a groundsman at the club, where the pair had a meetcute. He then went on to message the player via Instagram.
According to the Mirror, their first fate was far from glamorous. She previously said: “We got a little monkey and every time I see it, it reminds me of when we went to IKEA.”
The couple got engaged in December 2023 under the Northern Lights of Finnish Lapland. They were swiftly married in July 2024, marrying at Merrydale Manor in Cheshire. Kelly wore a custom gown by Galia Lahav’s Elysee line.
Their one year anniversary coincided with this year’s Euros feat, with Chloe sharing a photo collection to Instagram, writing: “One year on from the Happiest of my life. Happy anniversary to my (white heart emoji).”
