Chilling CCTV shows wife pulling knife on husband during 20 years of sick abuse

Shocking CCTV footage has shown the moment a wife pulled a knife on her husband after subjecting him to 20 years of abuse.

In the footage captured by a nanny cam set up to monitor the pair’s three children, Richard Spencer can be seen curled up in a ball as his wife Sheree hurls abuse at him while brandishing the blade.

But in police interviews, Sheree told officers her husband was the abuser with her face turning to shock when she was shown the footage of her actions.

Other incidents of abuse have seen her defecate on the floor and force Richard to clean it up and Sheree once beat him so hard with a wine bottle it permanently disfigured his ear.

Sheree, 45, was jailed for four years at Hull Crown Court in March last year, where judge Kate Rayfield, told her: “This is the worst case of controlling and coercive behaviour I have seen.”

Following her sentencing, Richard decided to share his story in a Channel 5 show called My Wife, My Abuser: The Secret Footage, which airs on Monday, with Sheree going to desperate lengths – including to the courts – in a failed attempt to block the show.

Richard says he wants his appearance on the show to raise awareness of the type of abuse men can suffer in their daily lives at the hands of violent partners.

He told the MailOnline: “Sheree tried to stop the documentary being broadcast in the crown court but failed, then she applied for a prohibited steps order through the family court, which luckily was rejected and thrown out at the first hearing.

“The broadcast has been delayed due to the legal challenges for about six months, but now it is finally going to be shown.

“I’m hopeful that the film will be well received and will make a difference.”

The pair met in a nightclub in 2000 and married on a beach in Thailand in 2009. They welcomed the oldest of their three daughters in 2015 which led them to install the camera to keep an eye on the trio.

Instead, it caught footage of wine-fueled abuse in which Sheree would call her husband “fat boy”, “a p**sy” and “dumb dumb” as well as inflicting bruises and scratches that he would need to cover with make-up before going outside.

When police became involved, Richard handed over 43 images of his bruised face, taken on different dates following attacks.

In the documentary, a police officer said: “This has been going on for such a long time, that this is who he is. Withdrawn and broken.”

Richard added: “I just wanted the abuse to stop. I was in a situation and there was no way out.”

Sheree worked at the highest levels for HM Prison and Probation Service and bragged to friends about knowing Boris Johnson, speaking “as though he were a friend”.
