Cher seeks conservatorship for son Elijah Allman due to addiction issues

CHER is trying to take control of her adult son, claiming he is addicted to drugs and unable to handle his money as he battles health problems.

Documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court revealed the singer, 77, seeks to be the sole conservator of Elijah Blue Allman’s estate.

The Believe hitmaker said a conservatorship is “urgently needed to protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury” insisting the 47-year-old is “currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues”.

The court filing said: “Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from a trust but [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

It added that Elijah’s estranged pop artist wife Marie Angela King, 36, cannot be his conservator because “their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises”.

Moonstruck actress Cher is said to have “worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him help he needs”.

The document claims she “loves Elijah immensely and has always acted with his best interests in mind”.

The filing warns she has been “unable to discuss his preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator”.

A hearing for a temporary order is set for a week today with the date for a permanent order on March 6.

Allman is the son of Cher and late rock star Gregg Allman, who died aged 69 in 2017. Two months ago, Cher broke her silence on her son’s ordeal.

It came after a report alleged she had hired four men to remove him from a New York hotel room in 2022. Cher has denied this.
