Chef Rainer Schwarz dies in car crash

A renowned Orange County chef is dead after a shocking car crash.

Rainer Schwarz, the famous executive chef behind Laguna Beach mainstay The Deck and Driftwood Kitchen, died Monday when the Audi he was driving veered off the road, plowing through a landscaped area and into a nearby parking lot.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. It happened shortly after Schwarz left his restaurants Monday.
