The UK’s most affordable holiday spot has just been revealed. According to new research, this destination offers some of the lowest costs for accommodation and travel, making it a top pick for budget-conscious explorers. But what really sets it apart is the feeling it gives visitors, who often say being there is like “stepping back in time.”

CryptoCasinos.online analysed travel costs across seven categories, including accommodation, food, transport, alcohol, entertainment, tours, and coach fees from London, to reveal the best destinations for budget-conscious travellers. Using “reliable data” for UK locations, costs were averaged and converted into a 100-point Budget Travel Score, where higher scores indicate greater affordability and value for money.

According to the money experts, the aim is to reveal the UK’s treasures and demonstrate that “you can have amazing holidays without the hassle of long-haul flights and currency exchanges”. The winner for a cost-effective visit: Stirling, Scotland.

Stirling is crowned the cheapest to visit

Stirling, a historic city in central Scotland, is a must-visit for anyone who loves “stepping back in time,” reported Cottages & Castles. From its medieval castle perched on volcanic rock to the national monument marking the Battle of Stirling Bridge, the city is rich with landmarks that bring history to life.

Surrounded by the Trossachs National Park and nearby lochs, it also offers stunning scenery alongside cosy restaurants, pubs, and bars.

“Stirling takes the UK crown with a Budget Travel Score of 72.66, offering fantastic value for money,” said the money experts at Crypto Casinos.

“At £23 per night for accommodation and coach travel from London costing just £37.98, it’s incredibly accessible. The city combines rich history with affordable experiences, making it perfect for culture enthusiasts on a budget.”

Kingston upon Hull is a close second in the ranking and has been dubbed “England’s hidden treasure” by the experts. Hull received an average score of 65.50.

The area boasts the cheapest accommodation in the UK rankings, at £19 per night, which pairs brilliantly with the lowest coach fares, at just £13.48 from London. While food costs are slightly steep at £35 per day, the incredibly low transport costs make the trip worth it.

Ranking tenth with an average score of 46.6 is Norfolk. What lets down this city is the average tour cost of £69 and the hefty coach fees from London of £91.83.

We have listed the full ranking below.
