Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will call plays for the team, come hell or high water.

That’s the message coach Jim Harbaugh sent Wednesday when he confirmed McDaniel would continue calling plays coming off the team’s bye week.

The Chargers evaluated the team over the last few days and remain comfortable with McDaniel leading the offense. But as the team enters Week 8 with an 0-6 record, LA hasn’t made any notable changes to a struggling squad.

But the NFL’s lone winless team appears to be content in sticking with the staff laid out in the offseason.

“We’re very confident in Mike and his talent, work ethic and ability. And continue to be,” Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday.

It is important to note Harbaugh has never called plays throughout his tenure as a head coach. But if McDaniel continues calling plays for the Chargers, what changes can they make to turn things around?

Evidently, the Chargers believe the self-scouting done over the bye week will suffice upon their return to the field, but things look bleak for LA. Their next challenge is squaring off against the Rams on Sunday, which doesn’t bode well for their chances of securing their first win of the season.

However, Harbaugh and the coaching staff remain adamant about the team’s progress week in and week out regardless of the Chargers’ abysmal record.
