Chaos at Aldi as supermarket brings in ‘2 per shopper’ rule on bargain everyone wants | UK | News

Aldi was forced to introduce a limit on how many wooden toys shoppers could buy after a huge middle aisle sale saw Brits battling huge queues to get their hands on the items. The shop had to introduce a two-item limit following upset over sold out items in previous years. This year, prices began at as little as £3.49.

Shoppers were keen to get their hands on the deal to snap up Christmas presents in advance. From as early as 6:30am, parents joined queues, waiting to bag a bargain.

Aldi set two-item limits on its Wooden Doll’s House, Wooden Mechanic Car, Wooden Light Up Vanity and Stool, Wooden Modern Kitchen and Wooden Country Kitchen.

Aldi also issued restrictions on the sale of its Wooden Market Stall, Wooden Ice Cream Cart, Wooden Beauty Station, Wooden Horse Box and its Wooden Aldi Supermarket.

Describing the chaos on TikTok, one person said: “People were literally fighting. Absolutely fighting, pushing people out the way. It was absolute carnage.”

Others said that there was not even a queue and instead just a crowd at the door of parents desperate to get into the shop.

Aldi said it had seen “unprecedented demand with queues spilling out of stores and trolleys being stocked to the brim”.

While the two-item restriction may have helped more people grab the toys, some parents were left upset after reportedly seeing Aldi products being sold online at a hiked price by people looking to make a profit.

One person said: “To the people that have bought the new wooden toys from Aldi that were on sale from 8am today and then uploaded to Vinted, you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!”

On its website, Aldi says this year’s wooden toy range is its biggest ever.

It says: “With the annual collection being a staple for parents up and down the country and sales up 36% compared to last year, the supermarket has announced the 2025 launch will land in the middle aisle on 9th October, with prices starting from just £3.49.

“Shoppers with little ones to buy for this Christmas will need to hurry though because as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!”
