A resurfaced video has shown how proud Carole Middleton was of her daughter’s engagement to Prince William in 2010 and how she feels about her son-in-law. Speaking in a rare televised statement, Carole and Michael Middleton beamed after the news became official.
At the time, Carole and Michael gave a heartfelt message expressing their joy at the news and praising William for how he had become part of the family. The statement said: “Carole and I are absolutely delighted by today’s announcement and thrilled by the prospect of a wedding sometime next year.
“As you know, Catherine and Prince William have been going out together for quite a number of years, which is great for us because we’ve got to know William really well.”
The proud parents added: “We all think he’s wonderful and we’re extremely fond of him. They make a lovely couple. They’re great fun to be with, and we’ve had a lot of laughs together. We wish them every happiness for the future.”
The video was recently reposted by a royal fan account on Instagram and quickly gained attention from royal fans.
One wrote: “The class, poise and style showed here is immaculate. Such well spoken. Such wonderful parents.”
Another said: “So classy, and you’re so lucky to have such a nice person for a son-in-law. Likewise, he is so lucky to have you as in-laws!”
A third said: “Awww… they’re both kinda shy like beautiful Princess Catherine. So sweet.”
The Middleton grandparents are thought to play a supportive role in the children’s day-to-day lives, particularly when William and Kate are carrying out official engagements.
In the early days of his relationship with Kate, the now heir to the throne was regularly spotted spending time at the main Middleton residence. The couple’s official engagement interview took place on November 16, 2010.
The resurfaced video has served as a reminder of that bond and the warm welcome William received from the Middletons more than a decade ago.
The mother-of-three has also been praised for playing a vital role behind the scenes for the Prince and Princess of Wales during what has been one of the royal family’s most turbulent periods in recent times, with Kate and King Charles’ cancer diagnoses last year.
