Carole Middleton 'at the helm' as she rushes to look after George, Charlotte and Louis

Princess Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, is said to be “at the helm” and ready help with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as the Princess of Wales recuperates from her successful abdominal surgery last week, a royal expert has claimed.

Kate’s admission to the London Clinic was announced last week by Kensington Palace, which said she may have to stay there for up to 14 days before she continues her recovery at home.

Prince William has cleared his diary so he can be by his wife’s side and also support their children, however, he seems to also have a very strong support network to help deal with the situation as normally as possible.

Carole and her husband, Michael Middleton live in Bucklebury, Berkshire, which is only around 40 minutes away from the Wales’s Adelaine Cottage in Windsor. Kate’s sister, Pippa, also lives in Berkshire.

Now a royal expert labelled Carole a very “hands-on” grandmother who will not hesitate to help.

Editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward, told HELLO!: “The Middletons are a really close family and Carole is a very hands-on grandmother, and I’m sure she will be at the helm. She often picks the kids up.

“Pippa has children of her own now, but I’m sure she will help by offering to have the kids round for tea and that kind of thing.”

Back in 2021, Carole opened up on her role as a grandmother to Good Housekeeping, saying: “I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground.

“As long as I am able to, that’s what I’ll be doing. I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.”

Seward went on to brand William an “incredibly supportive husband” who is very “modern” with his family being his top priority.

She explained: “It’s pretty unusual for the Prince of Wales to cancel engagements because his wife isn’t well – that certainly wouldn’t have happened in the past.

“But he’s a modern man whose family is more important to him than anything else.”
