The Cowboys are in the perfect spot for a letdown coming off their most decisive win of the of the season on the road against the Eagles on Monday night.

Now, they face the lowly Cardinals at home in a game where they are a touchdown favorite.

That’s a precarious situation for a Cowboys team gets complacent as the A-side of a matchup.

Cardinals vs. Cowboys prediction, best bet

The Cardinals are not a good football team, but they can pretend to be one on any given Sunday.

They’ve played spoiler twice already this season, starting off the roller coaster of misery for the for the Chargers in the season opener and stunning the Rams.

It’s even more fitting that both games came on the road.

The Cardinals are 3-4 against the spread (ATS) this season, including the two outright wins, and they came within six points against the 49ers.

The Cowboys are 4-3 ATS, but 2-3 as a favorite, which highlights their inability to capitalize when sportsbooks see them as the better team.

A big chunk of the blame falls on their lackluster defense.

The unit was supposed to be improved after being one of the worst in the league last season but it still ranks 27th in amount of drives that end with an offensive score and 31st in penalty yards.

Their run defense has allowed the most yards per game in the NFL, which does not bode well for them this week.

Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah Love is set return this week to boost Arizona’s meager running game.

Betting on the NFL?

The Cardinals’ defense is not good and that will likely be the reason they don’t ultimately win this game. But with Jacoby Brissett at the helm of their offense, they’ve been good enough to stay in the fight with teams this season.

I’ll back the Cardinals to cover this number.

The Pick: Cardinals +7 (-112, bet365)
