A car expert has taken to social media to share the ‘Car brands to buy and car brands to avoid in 2024 and 2025’. The TikTok video, posted by Andy’s Auto Advice, has gone viral, amassing over 4.8 million views, 212.7K likes, and 11.3K comments. Andy recommended steering clear from Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, and new General Motors Company and Stilantis products.
In the TikTok video, Andy from Andy’s Auto Advice said: “Avoid all Hyundai and Kia products at all cost. “You’re going to end up waiting six months to get your car back after you blow your engine up.
He added: “Avoid Volkswagen. They aren’t what they used to be. A lot of their products have gone cheap and unreliable in the last decade or so. I just avoid them at all cost.
“I would say avoid any new GM products, they’ve kind of gone cheap too with a lot of engine problems, especially in their larger vehicles but their 3.6 liter has always been an issue in their SUVs.”
Andy recommended vehicles from Toyota, Honda, and BMW with the B58 or B48 engines developed with Toyota, as well as Nissan/Infiniti models featuring V6 engines with non-CVT transmissions.
He added: “You can’t go wrong with the Ford F1 50 with the Coyote 5 0 or the Eco Boost 3.5 liter twin turbo.”
“So basically summed up, most brand new cars are garbage. You have to be a little more picky than you used to. Definitely do a lot of research and go to the dealer with discretion for sure.”
However, not all of his viewers agreed with him in the comments.
One TikTok user said: “Every Kia/Hyundai engine isn’t blowing, just gotta avoid the theta ll engines, which aren’t on the current models, so you’ll be fine, and anything from Toyota is a crazy thing to say.”
Another TikToker wrote: “Kia and Hyundai are massively reliable. I 100% disagree with you.”
