Captain America star Harrison Ford's brutal three-word verdict speaks volumes

Film icon Harrison Ford has a candid verdict for his new film as he makes his Marvel movie bow.

Known for his legendary roles in Star Wars, Indiana Jones and more, Ford is renowned for his frank and frequently flippant responses to interviews ahead of movie releases. From expressing irritation at mundane questions about his most famous characters to revealing his indifference towards the fate of Han Solo, his legendary interviews are a hit with fans.

His latest is no exception and a brutal three-word remark speaks volumes about his dry sense of humour. His newest role as Thaddeus Ross in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe project, Captain America: Brave New World, sees Ford take over from the late Wiliam Hurt.

And in interviews, Ford has described his character as simply a bit of light-hearted fun. He amusingly referred to himself as an “idiot for money” in his portrayal of Ross, reports the Mirror US.

Ford quipped: “What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.”

His remarks echo those of Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, who previously described the films he appeared in as “pointless” acting endeavours. Hopkins said: “They put me in armour; they shoved a beard on me. Sit on the throne, shout a bit.

“If you’re sitting in front of a green screen, it’s pointless acting it.”

Ford has been praised by fans on Reddit for his refreshingly candid approach to acting, as highlighted in a recent r/comicbookmovies post. One user commented: “To be fair, Ford actually described the job here as fun, which is more of a compliment than he usually gives.”

Another chimed in with: “People take him too seriously. He loves acting and enjoying life. When people ask him, what he feels to be, stupid questions, he gives a stupid answer back.

“To him, it’s just a job and not real. So when people try to make it real, he just messes with them.”

A third admirer remarked: “It’s refreshing when an actor stops getting high and mighty on their own farts about the art of a project and straight up says ‘I had fun and I got paid’. Acting is a job first and foremost, and it’s bizarre that more of them don’t remind themselves of that.”

The discussion also sparked curiosity, with one asking: “Legit question – when was the last time Ford seemed genuinely passionate about his job?” While opinions varied on which role truly ignited Ford’s passion, some suggested his interview demeanour might play a part.

A fan noted: “He enjoys acting and messing with people. People think he’s massively stuck up and hates doing what he does. He doesn’t. He just loves being an a**.”

Another added: “It feels like he has a dry personality and can be pretty sarcastic and witty. That tends to throw people off.

“I enjoy it, but I understand not everyone does. He and Conan O’Brien seem to have a good relationship, and I’d say Conan’s a pretty good judge of character.”
