Sony’s answer to Overwatch 2, PS5 release Concord is arguably the highest profile flop in video game history. (And with a rumoured $400 million budget, it’s also almost certainly the most expensive.)
The multiplayer hero shooter launched to overwhelmingly negative user reviews on the likes of Metacritic, and peaked at just 697 concurrent players on Steam.
The servers were shutdown for good after just two weeks, with Sony offering refunds on all sales.
As you can see by visiting sites like eBay, however, not everybody took Sony up on the offer.
In fact, one user is selling a sealed and graded copy of Concord for a whopping £506 on eBay.
While this particular listing is one for the collectors, one user has successfully sold a copy for £104. A few copies have sold for £50+, while countless have sold for prices between £30-£40.
It’s pretty remarkable considering you’ll never actually be able to play the game, as there’s no single-player.
I can definitely see future collectors paying even more to bag this rarity, especially with so few physical copies in the wild.
Still, I wouldn’t pay £500 for it!
Sony will be hoping it has more luck with upcoming PlayStation exclusives like Wolverine, Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2.
Once again directed by Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding 2 sees players once again embark on a journey to save humanity.
“Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA,” reads the official description. “Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction.
“Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?”
Ghost of Yotei, on the other hand, is an action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch, and a sequel to the excellent Ghost of Tsushima.
