Autumn is the season for comfort food, where warm, hearty dishes take centre stage on our dinner tables. If you’re looking for an incredibly indulgent dish that celebrates autumn, recipe creator Nate Anthony, better known as Bored of Lunch, shared how you can transform a simple Camembert into an autumnal feast.
In a recent TikTok video, Nate shared a Halloween-inspired treat that has rich camembert in the centre, encased in flaky puff pastry, expertly crafted to resemble a pumpkin. Nate explained that this dish was inspired by fellow recipe developer Amy Sheppard. He said: “If there’s one thing you need to try this Halloween, it’s this air fryer camembert pumpkin. It’s creamy melted cheese oozing out of puff pastry.”
You can use either brie or Camembert, which is then wrapped in salty prosciutto. Top the wrapped Camembert wheel with a chutney of your choice. Nate used red onion.
The filling is then wrapped in puff pastry. To create the realistic pumpkin effect, use pieces of string to tie across the pastry to make the ridges.
The secret to making this Halloween treat incredibly gooey? Cook it in the air fryer to achieve a golden crust and runny centre.
Nate continued: “You have the ultimate party snack for Halloween. Everyone will love it.”
Nate’s recipe video has already been viewed over a massive 738,900 times, receiving 32,900 likes and 85 comments. Flo simply said: “Oh my word.” Another suggested: “Hear me out with cranberry sauce instead of.”
Rera said: “I thought there was going to be actual pumpkin involved and now I’m trying to determine how it could be incorporated.” Kara agreed: “Amazing I Need to try this!”
This is how you can recreate Nate’s indulgent camembert pumpkin at home.
Ingredients
Camembert wheel
- 4-5 slices of prosciutto
- One sheet puff pastry
- Two tbsp chutney
- One beaten egg
- Sprig of rosemary
- Your favourite crackers, for dipping
Method
Open your Camembert wheel and wrap in slices of prosciutto, making sure it’s fully covered.
Roll out your puff pastry and cut the edges off. Place some chutney in the middle of the puff pastry and set your wrapped Camembert on top.
Add another tablespoon of chutney on top, then wrap the Camembert in the pastry.
To create the pumpkin shape, use four pieces of string tied at the bottom, which slightly indented the pastry
Once done, brush some beaten egg over the pastry then air fry for 20 minutes at 190. Remove the string once cooked.
