Observations from Thursday’s Jets training camp practice:

Good

The battle between two ex-Giants to be the Jets’ cyclical Kicker of the Year is off to a competitive start: Cade York was 6-for-6 and Jason Sanders was 5-for-6. Both kickers attempted from 34, 36, 39, 42, 45 and 48 yards, with the only miss on Sanders’ longest attempt.

Bad

Breece Hall fumbled at the end of a long run when he spun away from David Bailey, who was in the backfield a lot with three unofficial “sacks.” The ball rolled out of bounds and Hall subbed out the next rep for Braelon Allen, though it’s not clear if that was punitive or a rotation.

Caught my eye

Cade Klubnik’s ball placement was sharp, including a tight spiral over the non-turned head of Kiko Mauigoa for a completion in traffic to Arian Smith. Jamaal Pritchett made a leaping catch on a ball thrown away from the defender. Klubnik was 6-for-7 in team drills and 3-for-4 in 7-on-7. “He made some throws today, didn’t he?” head coach Aaron Glenn said.

Injury report

WRs Gee Scott Jr. (calf) and Jalen Walthall (hamstring) left practice with injuries but the severity was not immediately known. DT T’Vondre Sweat (Non-Football Injury list) and OLB Joseph Assai (Physically Unable to Perform list) came out the building midway through practice. CB D’Angelo Ponds (strained calf) missed his second straight practice.
