The best team in the East isn’t sitting idly by ahead of this year’s trade deadline.
The Detroit Pistons have acquired sharpshooter Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric in a three-team deal with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday afternoon.
Chicago lands Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley Jr., while a 2026 first-round protected pick swap is also heading to Motor City.
The Pistons currently sit atop the Eastern Conference at 36-12, trailing only the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record in the NBA.
Detroit, which lacked a perimeter presence, improved its spacing with the addition of Huerter, who has averaged two triples per game at a 37.1 percent clip over his nine-year career.
Chicago bolstered its backcourt depth with the veteran Conley and burgeoning Ivey, the latter of whom could benefit from a change in scenery.
Ivey’s role in Detroit’s lineup decreased considerably since returning from last year’s season-ending leg injury — but the 23-year-old averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game across his first three seasons.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves created “significant tax savings and roster space” to gear up for a potential push for Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to Charania.
The announcement came shortly after Charania reported that the Utah Jazz acquired Memphis Grizzlies star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. in a blockbuster haul.
